The Chinese Weeping Cypress, scientifically known as Cupressus funebris, is an evergreen conifer native to China and Vietnam grown for its ornamentalk weeping form and aromatic foliage
It's characterized by slender, pendulous sprays of scale-like leaves and can grow to a medium-sized tree, reaching heights of 20-35 meters.
Its erect trunk, clothed in smooth, brown bark, supports striking horizontal or ascending branches adorned with elegantly pendulous, slender sprays. Native to Central China, this conifer's rich history dates back to its initial documentation by Lord Macartney's mission in 1793. Chinese Weeping Cypress is cherished for its ornamental appeal, thriving in gardens, public parks, and sacred spaces like monasteries and temples across China and select warm temperate regions globally. In cooler climates, it graces homes and conservatories. Its conical seed pods and unique juvenile foliage add to its allure. Beyond aesthetics, its wood is valued for construction, while its leaves and branches hold medicinal properties, further sealing its status as a versatile botanical treasure.
We are offering a seedling for this plant about 6 to 8 inches tall in a 5 inch pot.
